Czech girls won the first U20 European title in 2002 at Zagreb, Croatia.
The National team triumphed at the EuroBasket Women 2005 in Turkey and earned a silver medal at the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women.
Brno outplayed all opponents at the EuroLeague Women in 2006, while USK Praha posted its first title in 2015.
Czech girls had a great summer of 2022, too.
The U20 team and coach Romana Ptáčková (Hradec Králové) finished second in the European Championship at Sopron, Hungary.
Ptáčková`s assistant Tomáš Holešovský has worked at various German clubs.
Junior team, led by Viktor Pruša from Žabiny Brno and Michal Martišek from Trutnov, qualified for the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup.
The U16 team is also playing at the Division A level.
SBŠ Ostrava is a part of this tradition.
The girls basketball club was officially registered on September 10, 1999.
Girls born in 1987-1990 were the first to play for the club.
Ostrava girls won five consecutive Czech U16 titles.
Tereza Sedlačkova made the National team and earned the bronze medal at the 2007 European U16 championship in Valmiera, Latvia.
She played together with players like Petra Zaplatova (born in Trutnov), Karolina Elhotova, Alena Hanušova and Lenka Bartakova.
The adult team entered the Czech top flight (ŽBL) for the first time in 2009-2010 and finished in the 12th place.
Six years later SBŠ Ostrava joined the Central European Women`s league (CEWL).
Highest achievement – the fourth place in 2017.
The club joined the European Girls Basketball league in 2017 and the European Women`s Basketball league in 2018.
SBŠ Ostrava reached the sixth place in the ŽBL and entered the EWBL playoffs for the first time in 2020, followed by the Final Four finish in 2022.
Iveta Rašková is the head coach of the senior team since 2020.
She is assisted by the U19 team coach Kamil Fajta.
A former senior team coach Ladislav Pavlát (2019-2020) is also working with the U19 team.
