Krystyna Filevich scores 41, Berezowska and Polonia hold off Frankivsk

Krystyna Filevich repeated the European Women`s Basketball league`s record and scored 41 points but Polonia Warszawa defeated relentless Frankivsk, 86-74, on Friday, February 2, at the Centrum Sportu Wilanow in Warsaw, Poland.

Julia Berezowska scored 24 points on impressive 8/13 shooting from the three point line for Polonia Warszawa.


Guard/forward made three shots from the deep in the first half.


Berezowska lighted it up even more after the break as she hit four three pointers in the third quarter – all of them in less than five minutes.


Kayla Wells added 17 points on 7/15 shooting from the field.


A former Texas A&M player had three assists and two steals.


Martyna Leszczynska contributed with 13 points and eight rebounds.


Krystyna Filevich shined for Frankivsk.


Forward scored 41 points, repeating the EWBL scoring record.


Najai Wynn-Pollard scored 41 points on October 29, 2022, helping Levharti Chomutov to complete a comeback against Neptūnas Klaipeda.

Polonia Warszawa jumped in front for a 32-14 lead after the first 10 minutes of play.


The hosts led by 20 points at the half, 44-24.


Filevich heated up in the third quarter but the hot shooting by Berezowska maintained a 16 points lead for Polonia, 66-50, with 10:43 to go.


An unsportmanlike foul by Zuzanna Sklepowicz led to a 0-4 run by Frankivsk.


Filevich split the free throws but possession ended with a three pointer by Alekseichyk, 66-56.


Karyna Panchuk made both free throws to tie the game at 70 with 06:07 to go.


Eighth three pointer from Berezowska and successful actions by Leszczynska regained a seven points lead for the hosts.


The game remained tight until the last 30 seconds when a three pointer by Marta Mystigacz renewed a double digits lead for Polonia.
