Late run lifts Nyon Basket over Frankivsk Prykarpattya

Nyon Basket went on a 17-2 run in the clutch time to defeat Frankivsk Prykarpattya, 75-55, on Thursday, December 5, at the Centrum sportu Wilanow in Warsaw, Poland.

Samantha Breen once again did the heavy lifting for Nyon Basket.


A former UMass power forward scored 24 points on 9/15 shooting from the field and 2/2 from the charity stripe.


Breen went 4/5 from the three point line.


She added seven rebounds, three assists and a game high three steals.


Miriam Uro-Nilie posted a solid double-double.


Ukraine international had 13 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.


Last but not least, captain Laure Margot checked out with 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists.


Anzhelika Liashko led Frankivsk with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists.


She went 4/7 from the deep to match Breen`s effort.

Key stats

Frankivsk Prykarpattya had a shorter rotation – all starters played 29 and more minutes.


Nyon Basket bench outscored Frankivsk, 16-2.


The Ukrainians also experienced some problems under the basket, as Nyon players grabbed 18 offensive rebounds and scored more second chance points, 11-2.


Despite the challenges, Frankivsk stayed in the game.


Nyon led by five points only, with 05:48 left.


A two points by Laure Margot kicked off the decisive 17-2 run.


Samantha Breen led the charge, scoring 11 of those 17 points.


Laure Margot and Miriam Uro-Nilie also did a great job.



Game notes

Nyon Basket improved to 1-2, while Frankivsk Prykarpattya dropped to 0-1.


It marked the first win for the Swiss team after a 0-2 start.


Frankivsk Prykarpattya missed one of its leaders – Oksana Mollova.


The other starters stepped up instead and showed a good fighting spirit.


Nyon Basket earned a 1-1 record at Warsaw and will play the next three games on the home floor.


Frankivsk Prykarpattya will meet Polonia Warszawa on Friday night.
