Ready, set, action! Polonia Warszawa and Frankivsk to play for gold




The 2024 European Women`s Basketball league Cup final is here. Polonia Warszawa and Frankivsk Prykarpattya will play for gold on Saturday, March 9, at the Centrum Sportu Wilanow.


Series history: Polonia leads the series, 4-0.


The Poles won the first encounter, 73-70, on January 14, 2023, at Chomutov, and prevailed again in the bronze medal match, 100-53, on March 5 at Warszawa.


The third win came on November 26 at Ostrava, 89-56.


Polonia also prevailed on February 2, 2024, at Warszawa, 86-74.



Key matchup: Anna Pawlowska averages 13.3 points and 5.5 assists for Polonia Warszawa.


Klaudia Sosnowska played in last 10 games (out of 20).


She averages 11.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists.


Zada Williams has 9.9 points and a team high 10.0 rebounds.


Oksana Mollova averages 21.4 points and 9.3 rebounds for Frankivsk Prykarpattya.


Krystyna Filevich follows with 17.3 points, 11.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists.


Olha Alekseichyk has 12.3 points and 6.7 assists.



National championships: Polonia Warszawa finished the regular season on February 24.


Jerome Fournier led his team to the ninth place with a 5-15 record.


Marta Mistygacz played her last game in the Basket Liga Kobiet on February 24.


Kayla Wells is injured, while Hanna Crymble has left after the end of contract.


Polkowice and Gorzow will play for gold, while Sleza Wroclaw and Arka Gdynia will play for bronze.


Frankivsk Prykarpattya are 16-2 in the Ukraine Superleague.


They defeated Rivne, 70-68 and 84-64, on March 3-4.


Oksana Mollova scored 36 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on Monday.


Krystyna Filevich chipped in with eight points, six rebounds and six assists.


Olha Alekseichyk (Sivakova) had seven assists.


Ukraine Superleague regular season will finish on March 24 at Kyiv and Odesa.


The 2024 Final Four is scheduled on March 30-31.

SKK Polonia Warszawa: second year in the league, ended the first regular season with a 7-0 record and hosted the 2023 EWBL Final Four at the Centrum Sportu Wilanow in Warsaw. Best result: EWBL bronze medalist in 2023.


Frankivsk Prykarpattya: second year in the league, posted a 4-3 record in the first regular season and advanced to the 2023 Final Four. Best result: fourth place in 2023.
